Faerd joins "Danish Roots"

The aim of danish roots is to support a group of carefully selected Danish folk and roots musicians/bands in their international ambitions - and of course to make the world aware of all that Danish folk music has to offer. “Front-runners”: The remaining five bands in danish roots are front-runners of Danish folk and roots music. They too receive special attention and support in their endeavour to bring their music beyond the borders of Denmark. All five have begun promising international careers and hold big promises for the future. http://www.rosa.org/v4/danishroots/

Færd/Dørge/Becker/Hjetland project

A border crossing project between the folk music trio Færd, world jazz musician/composer duo Pierre Dørge and Irene Becker(guitar and keyboard) and Danish/Norwegish singer Julie Hjetland, will take place during second half of 2007.
This idea of mixing folk and jazz music was born when Eskil Romme met with Pierre Dørge and Irene Becker at a jazzfestival on The Faroe Islands back in 2004 -
It is the intention by the project to create a musical univers of its own, based on old Nordic material; Norwegish, Swedish, Danish, Faroese as well as compositions of the musicians own.
The project includes a week of performing, followed by a week of recording the material for to be released on cd. (look for details about the project at “Calendar”)
